I can completely understand what you're going through.  I would like to offer a suggestion that may be an option, but it may depend several factors.  My car is a 2010 model and the warranty just expired.  It was all I could do to afford the car, but had no choice when I totaled the car I had been driving for 12 years in a car accident.

A few weeks ago I hit a pothole in the road.  It not only busted my tire but it damaged my wheel beyond repair.  I was devastated because I have no money and nowhere to turn for help.  I took a long shot and contacted the corporate office of the manufacturer of my car, explained my situation, and asked if they would work with one of the local dealerships and offer me a discount on the parts and repairs.  I was surprised and blessed when they offered me both parts and repairs at no cost to me.

This may be an option you can try to have your transmission fixed, but it may depend on how old your truck is and how many miles you have on it.  However, I wouldn't let it stop me from trying.  If you'll give me the make and model of your truck, I'll go do a search for the right person to contact to help you out.  You have nothing to lose by asking.

I wish you the best of luck.

Desperate for auto repair work assistance

By starznaz - on Feb 19, 2012

My husband and I are desperate. Our truck, which is our only vehicle, needs the transmission replaced. We have been told anything from $1500-$3000 to repair. That is absolutely impossible for us. My husband is disabled and on SSD after 2 back surgery's & having 1/2 his colon removed to keep him alive. I'm on partial income since being injured at work and am looking at my 2nd surgery for it next week.
Is there anyone out there who can help. We may have found a used transmission, which is risky, but all we can do but need help getting the repairs done and getting it running.
We know it's a lot to ask but we are looking for an angel. Please let us know if you can help.
Thank you all so much.

in response to lilmama320...   It sounds like the BCM (Body Control Module), which is basically the Main Computer or brain of the car. Sometimes you get small warnings before it dies, like when your clock, radio, A/C, etc, stop working. Or your lights, blinkers, or, in my case, odometer stops working. Eventually, out of the blue, when you least expect it, your car will just die. Luckily, I noticed the signs before it stopped working. Unfortunately, it costs about $500-$600 for the repair; the diagnoses might cost an additional $100. You might want to try talking to your local church or a Charitable organization like Catholic Charities, or in my case, I applied to St Vincent de Paul Society, who relies on other peoples donations who volunteer on a committee. Check with your city or state offices, also Welfare Office. Unfortunately, at the same time I was getting estimates, the repair places also noticed my tires were balding. Unfortunately, my application could only be used for one problem. I'm currently searching for assistance to purchase tires for my '02 Saturn L200. I wish you lots of luck in your search for assistance.

I am a college student and recently was hit by an ATV and my car was damaged very badly. Ned help getting it fixed. There is a crack in the exhaust pipe, the left mirror was taken off and the bumper was smashed in. I have been told that this will coast up to $400 to fix. Please send me a message on here if you can help or know anyone who can.

in response to Rissa18...   Check out your nearest community college or technical college, as the ones with mechanic programs offer repair services without labor charges (which are the most expensive piece for car repairs in general), you will then only have to pay for parts, and I would suggest calling your local wrecking yard, as they often have the various parts for pretty cheap. Best of luck to you, Cat

desperate for small repair help

By marshmellow21 - on May 23, 2011

I am disabled and a single mom in Columbia, North Carolina. I can pay ALL my bills barely but I do it on my own. I do not need a free car as I was able to purchase a very good used car for $2000.00 while I was able to work. I am NOT looking for something that I can obtain on my own with hard work. I am simply looking for a little help. Our ONLY transportation in a very rural area is a car that cannot be driven because it needs a tie rod and/or ball joint which was quoted $400 to $500 to fix. Car runs absolutely perfect and VERY economical but has sat in the driveway for two years because I cannot afford to have it properly fixed. I simply do not have Anything left over after paying my utilities. I continue to maintain it while it sits, making sure it is clean and has all fluids and maintain insurance on it despite not being able to drive it. I had purchased a new tire 2 yrs ago thinking that was the issue but it wasnt. I was able to take it to a friend who is also a licensed mechanic who said the loud thumping noise while driving was the tie rod/ball joint and that I had to take it off the road as it was unsafe until fixed. I just need it to be drivable so I can get my kids to where they need to go and get to grocery store in town. Have relied on various friends for ride to store when they go out but we live in very rural area so it is not possible sometimes. I have title to car which I purchased 4 yrs ago while I still was able to work part time. Please, I know you are out of our area but if you can give any advice at all, we would be so greatful. I am at my wits end as to what to do and would like to be able to get to my kid's schools to volunteer and to attend their various events. Both of my children are VERY smart and very active with school activities (my daughter is in 4th grade and in the Acedemically Gifted class) It saddens me so much when I cannot see their activities or take my daughter anywhere. I am very proud of both of them and only wish to be there for them. My son is looking for a job after school in town(he will be a senior 2011-2012) and will help me maintain the vehicle once he is working but I want his senior year to be a priority so he can graduate. Thank you so much for your time, and God Bless You. for all that you do

I have electric heaters its just they are so expensive to run, and I'm in the process of rebuilding my credit so its the old catch 22 :).
Thanks so much for writing, was hoping maybe some contractors would see my plea ha ha.

Last year the company that I worked moved it's production to another city. I have desperately sought employment and it looks as though I might be hired soon. Just recently, the transmission on our 99 Isuzu Rodeo broke down. I found one at a salvage yard for $650, I was introduced to a local mechanic who will install it for $250. We are in dire need to make this repair. We have only one vehicle. If there is anyone who would help us, we'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your consideration. God bless.

We can do alot to help our selves

By D.A.B. - on Dec 4, 2009
Posted in D.A.B.

I know things are bad all over but there are alot of things we can do to help our selves. Plant a guarden this spring. Learn how to can food. Learn how to do simple repares your self. Insteed of buying gifts make them. Learn how to sew. That way you can make some of your our clothes, repare or remake them. Reuse every thing you can.

There are tons of books at the Liberary that can help you learn the things our Grandparents did every day. As well as DVDs and CDs.

We can all get threw the hard times if we just use our heads.

Has anyone heard of a program where you can get funds to repair and old home if it is your primary residence or purchase a home for your primary residence? all help will be appriceated(sorry about the spelling). I have 5 small kids and I rent a 2 bedroom on a busy street. I am afraid that I will no longer be able to afford the rent and utilities. I have 3 children that will be attending school in August and do not know where i will be getting the money for clothes or supplies. I do not get my hair done nor my nails. We do not go out to eat or order in. I wish i could do more for my kids but i am very limited. It is getting very hot in mississippi now and my utilities have more than doubled to try to keep them moderatly comfortable. I am severly depressed worring about thier outcome daily. I want my kids to know that there is good in the world because they have already seen most of the ugly. Please help with any info you can give thanks and God bless.....

I work with Ameriplan and am happy to answer any questions you have about our discount plan.  You can learn more at http://www.BenefitsByRosie.com.  Most dentists will let you work out a payment plan. You can also check into local dental schools to see if they offer low-cost treatment.  Best wishes, Rosie

Have you considered getting a dental benefits plan (not insurance) to cut down on the cost.  I am not sure what kind of work you need but a discount plan could help you get the work you need to get done.  There are several discount plans out there, I personally have Ameriplan and am very pleased.  If you are interested check out www.DentalAndMedicalDiscounts.com.  Good luck getting everything resolved.

We just lost our only car. We were stuck on the interstate with the granddaughter who is 8 months for hours..then had it towed at a costly price just to find out that it will cost us about $2000 to get it fixed. We don't have that kind of money. We haven't even been able to make the house payment for July and it is time to pay the August house payment. We need about $5000 to get the car fixed and make both house payments. We could use more than that because I am unable to work at this time due to having shoulder surgery in April and having colon problems now that may require surgery.

I am a Christain mother of two children and I have a dodge caravan, which needs trasmission work and brakes. It will cost around $2000 total for everything. I work full time and get paid once a month and right now there is no money left over after paying bills to pay for this repair. If I can't get it repaired soon, I wont be able to get to work or get my kids to school. I have very little family and they are not able to help. I would greatly appreciate any donations at all toward this expense. Please consider helping me with this expense. I can pay the money back in very small onthly payments. Thank you for your consideration.

Update.....I found out a friend of my sister can do the work, I just need to get the parts, so that is about $1200, so please if anyone can help, let me know, I am very desperate to get my car fixed. Please consider helping in any way possible.

Thank you so much.

Repair and expand very small falling apart house

By Mamaduck - on Aug 18, 2005... modified on Aug 18, 2005
Posted in Mamaduck

I have a house that is aproximately 1100 sq.ft. with 6 people living in it, and 3 others that are here when they have no where else to go. Our bathroom is ready to fall through the floor, there is lots of dry rot. The tub leaking has also damaged the bedroom wall it is on the other side of. The kitchen is also falling apart, the too small fridg is the only good thing in there.

The house was built in 1960, there was an oil furnace that was converted to gas. It was unsafe, so we removed it. We now only have a wood stove insert for heat.

The house foundation should be raised 1-2 feet, at times during the winter the sump pump does not work good enough and the floors feel damp.

The fuse box is very out dated, and I worry about eletrical fires.

The house is also about half the size it needs to be, there is no personal space at all, we are always tripping over each other.

We own a small business(we also need office space, garage too cold in winter too hot in summer)  and work very hard to try to make ends meet. It does not afford us repairs and expansion, or even to sell and buy a different home, which wood be ideal.

I wood like to tear down and rebuild, or repair and expand, or relocate.

My family would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you
